  • Math Skills

    The development of basic math skills is established using manipulative math materials appropriate from pre-school to kindergarten. To give each child a strong foundation in the understanding of number concepts, math skills are developed through a wealth of manipulative, from Montessori wooden spindles and mancala, to Kumon, checkers then chess. All presented in an experiential way.

    ·       Counting in daily life: Count toys, steps, snacks, or nature items during play and routines.

    ·       Sorting and classifying: Group objects by color, size, or shape to build early categorization and pattern skills.

    ·       Cooking and baking: Measure ingredients, compare quantities, and explore fractions through hands-on activities.

    ·       Building and stacking: Use blocks or household items to explore balance, size, and spatial awareness.

    ·       Calendar time: Discuss days, weeks, and months to introduce sequencing and time concepts.

    ·       Nature exploration: Collect leaves or rocks to compare sizes, shapes, and numbers.

    ·       Songs and movement: Sing counting songs and use rhythm to reinforce number patterns.

    ·       Shopping play: Use pretend money to teach value, counting, and simple addition/subtraction.

    ·       Puzzle play: Solve shape or number puzzles to strengthen problem-solving and spatial reasoning.

  • Language – Pre-Reading Skills

    At The Cool Enrichment Academy, language and pre-reading development happens through interactive, hands-on learning that meets each child’s unique needs. Through storytelling, dramatization, rhyming, and sequencing activities, children build comprehension, communication, and confidence. Our creative approach nurtures self-expression and a lifelong love for reading.

    ·       Storytime: Read aloud daily to build vocabulary, imagination, and listening skills.

    ·       Dramatic play: Encourage pretend play and storytelling to strengthen verbal expression and narrative thinking.

    ·       Conversation and questioning: Engage in open-ended conversations that invite children to share ideas and describe experiences, Retelling stories in proper sequence.

    ·       Singing and rhyming: Use songs, poems, and fingerplays to develop phonemic awareness and rhythm.

    ·       Drawing and dictating stories: Let children draw pictures and describe or “write” their stories aloud, Understanding of "real" and "make believe"

The Cool Enrichment Academy is not a public or charter school, we exist to strengthen core skills, spark curiosity, and help children explore their interests in a fun and nurturing environment. Through hands-on learning and positive encouragement, students gain confidence, independence, and a deeper love for discovery.

  • Yes, by having more intentional time with students and their curriculum, but still allowing room for them to learn at their own pace children can catch up in their studies if they are behind.
